Smart Phones and Laptop turns into Super Gadgets: Future project by SU
Rajkot: Saurashtra University physics department working on a development project on multi-device sensors that works faster and accurately.
The project was approved by the Department of Atomic energy (DAE) of the Board of Research in Nuclear Science (BRNS) and approves a fund of 27 lakh. They also collaborated with the Bhabha Atomic research center (BARC) for the completion of this futuristic project.
SU has grabbed this project after basic research by online presentation among 15 top scientists of DAE.
“The ultra-high technology sensors will change the world of gadgets in the future. These sensors will change the speed and accuracy of all electronic gadgets. It will increase computer speed by 1,000 times while it may enhance mobile technology by 10,000 times,” said Nikesh Shah, professor, and project investigator.
He explained this three-year-long project and said that currently, they will use higher memory and strong processors to increase the speed and efficiency of electronic devices.
“By doing this, the device also consumes more electricity and you need to often recharge the devices. Our project is to make electromagnetic particles using very thin – micro 100 nanometer films. Using these multi-device sensors can be developed to increase the speed of electronic gadgets,” he said, adding that this will also help to save power consumption of the gadgets.
The SU team is trying to develop multi-device sensors that can record temperature, voltage, resistance against other parameters.
“We will buy a high resistance meter worth Rs nine lakh from the fund to measure resistance. We will also appoint a research fellow who will get an opportunity to work at BARC’s laboratory for three years,” said co-investigator Piyush Solanki.
The department also works on researching the use of sensors to test viruses, bacteria, fungus in laboratories.
If everything works according to plan then we will experience faster electronics gadgets, computers, laptops, projectors almost 1000 times faster. And contactless thermometers or temperature guns used widely in COVID times will be more accurate.
